Books were transferred from shelves to tomato boxes to book trucks for
their ride to
the new building,
April 8, 1954. |

There were a few accidents getting the loaded trucks up the ramp. Here
President Thompson and an unidentified student spill books off a truck,
April 8, 1954. |
 The
ramp from the basement of Jones hall to the outside was steep and often
took 2-3 people per booktruck to make it up the ramp. Here is President
Thompson and an unidentified student moving a load on April 8, 1954. |

A new concrete
sidewalk between Jones Hall and the new Collins Library was poured 3 days
before the great move. A canvas tent was built to protect the curing
concrete from the weather. It was left up to protect the book trucks and
their cargo on their 200 feet journey from Jones Hall to the new library
building.
