to news from more than 60 different sources, including 40 top African
news organizations. The site is managed by Africa News Service, a
nonprofit agency. You can search by choosing a headline clicking on a
regional, country or topical news section. Includes the Nigeria News
Network and special reports on other areas of Africa.

Stanford
librarian Karen Fung provides an excellent site that links to
information by country, by region, and by subject, such as human
rights, women, environment and health.
Africabib
Maintained
by Davis Bullwinkle at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock,
this site provides free access to two African studies databases: 1)
Africana Periodical Literature Bibliographic Database, indexing over
26,000 articles from over 235 English language African studies
journals, and 2) AfricanWomen Bibliographic Database, which contains
over 19,000 citations from 1986 to the present covering books,
journal articles, theses, and conference papers.

Human Rights Center
is a joint project of the Makarere University Human Rights and Peace
Center in Uganda, and the University of Minnesota Human Rights
Center. It's a good place to start to gain an overview of human
rights related issues in Africa. Go to Africa Related Links
to find country specific information for Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria,
Rwanda, South Africa, and other countries.

Contemporary

provides
an overview of current and historical conflicts in Africa. It covers
such topics as justice, human rights, and humanitarian
operations.

Nigeria
is maintained by the exhuberant "Boomie" O, who provides in-depth
information on all aspects of Nigerian life. Of particular interest
are the Peoples links, which provides access to the Yoruba,
Hausa, and Ibo cultures, among others, and the Marriage and
Family site.
SOSIG
Subject Guide: Ethnology, Ethnography, and Anthropology:

is an
extensive site provided by the Social Science Information Gateway.
While it covers many areas of the world and is not limited to Africa,
it has relevant links particularly in the following categories:
